Investigation on the Surface‐Confined Self‐Assembly Stabilized by Hydrogen Bonds of Urea and Amide Groups: Quantitative Analysis of Concentration Dependence of Surface Coverage 下载免费PDF全文
Formation of a hydrogen‐bond network via an amide group is a key driving force for the nucleation–elongation‐type self‐assembly that is often seen in biomolecules and artificial supramolecular assemblies. In this work, rod‐coil‐like aromatic compounds bearing an amide ( 1 a – 3 a ) or urea group ( 1 u – 3 u ) were synthesized, and their self‐assemblies on a 2‐D surface were investigated by scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). According to the quantitative analysis of the concentration dependence of the surface coverage, it was revealed that the strength of the hydrogen bond (i.e., amide or urea) and the number of non‐hydrogen atoms in a molecular component (i.e., size of core and length of alkyl side chain) play a primary role in determining the stabilization energy during nucleation and elongation processes of molecular ordering on the HOPG surface. 相似文献

We prepared Ln(III) (Ln=Eu, Gd, and Yb) complexes with a tripodal Schiff base, tris[2-(5-methylsalicylideneimino)ethyl]amine (H3L) and studied their photophysical properties. Upon ligand excitation, YbL showed Yb(III)-centered luminescence in the near-infrared region. While the overall quantum yield (0.60(1)%) of YbL in acetonitrile was moderate among the reported values for Yb(III) complexes, its radiative lifetime (0.33(2) ms) was significantly shorter than those reported previously. We propose that the ligand-to-metal charge-transfer (LMCT) state mediated the sensitization in YbL. The emission and excitation spectra of EuL indicated the participation of the LMCT state in the sensitization. The radiative lifetime (0.84(7) ms) for EuL in the solid state was rather short compared to those of reported Eu(III) complexes. Our results show that the Yb(III) complex with the Schiff base ligand has two features: the short radiative lifetime and the non-triplet sensitization path. 相似文献

Modulation of material properties and growth factor application are critical in constructing suitable cell culture environments to induce desired cellular functions. Sulfonated polyrotaxane (PRX) surfaces with immobilized vascular endothelial growth factors (VEGFs) are prepared to improve network formation in vascular endothelial cells. Sulfonated PRXs, whereby sulfonated α‐cyclodextrins (α‐CDs) are threaded onto a linear poly(ethylene glycol) chain capped with bulky groups at both terminals, are coated onto surfaces. The molecular mobility of sulfonated PRX surfaces is modulated by tuning the number of threading α‐CDs. VEGF is immobilized onto surfaces with varying mobility. Low mobility and VEGF‐immobilization reinforce cell proliferation, yes‐associated protein activity, and rhoA, pdgf, ang‐1, and pecam‐1 gene expression. Highly mobile surfaces and soluble VEGF weakly affect these cell responses. Network formation is strongly stimulated in vascular endothelial cells only on low‐mobility VEGF‐immobilized surfaces, suggesting that molecular mobility and VEGF immobilization synergistically control cell function. 相似文献

To achieve unique molecular-recognition patterns, a rational control of the flexibility of porous coordination polymers (PCPs) is highly sought, but it remains elusive. From a thermodynamic perspective, the competitive relationship between the structural deformation energy (Edef) of soft PCPs and the guest interaction is key for selective a guest-triggered structural-transformation behavior. Therefore, it is vital to investigate and control Edef to regulate this competition for flexibility control. Driven by these theoretical insights, we demonstrate an Edef-modulation strategy via encoding inter-framework hydrogen bonds into a soft PCP with an interpenetrated structure. As a proof of this concept, the enhanced Edef of PCP enables a selective gate-opening behavior toward CHCl3 over CH2Cl2 by changing the adsorption-energy landscape of the compounds. Transparent organic-inorganic nanocomposites were successfully synthesized from sulfonic acid-modified poly(bisphenol A carbonate) (SPC) and TiO2 or ZrO2 nanoparticles. The dispersibility of nanoparticles was significantly improved by both the surface treatment of nanoparticles with phosphoric acid 2-ethylhexyl esters (PAEH) and the introduction of a sulfonic acid moiety into the PC chain. It was found that in some cases, crystallization of the matrix caused a reduction in transparency. Efficient dispersion of nanoparticles and the absence of crystallization resulted in highly transparent nanocomposites with up to 42 wt% TiO2 and 50 wt% ZrO2 nanoparticles. The refractive indices of the nanocomposites based on SPC increased with the increasing amount of nanoparticles. Theoretical equation based on Maxwell-Garnett effective medium theory provided reasonably close estimation of the refractive indices to the experimentally observed values. The prepared nanocomposites had lower thermal stability than the host matrix polymers. 相似文献

The electrophoresis of λ‐DNA is observed in a microscale converging channel where the center‐of‐masses trajectories of DNA molecules are tracked to measure instantaneous electrophoretic (EP) mobilities of DNA molecules of various stretch lengths and conformations. Contrary to the usual assumption that DNA mobility is a constant, independent of field and DNA length in free solution, we find DNA EP mobility varies along the axis in the contracting geometry. We correlate this mobility variation with the local stretch and conformational changes of the DNA, which are induced by the electric field gradient produced by the contraction. A “shish‐kebab” model of a rigid polymer segment is developed, which consists of aligned spheres acting as charge and drag centers. The EP mobility of the shish‐kebab is obtained by determining the electrohydrodynamic interactions of aligned spheres driven by the electric field. Multiple shish‐kebabs are then connected end‐to‐end to form a freely jointed chain model for a flexible DNA chain. DNA EP mobility is finally obtained as an ensemble average over the shish‐kebab orientations that are biased to match the overall stretch of the DNA chain. Using physically reasonable parameters, the model agrees well with experimental results for the dependence of EP mobility on stretch and conformation. We find that the magnitude of the EP mobility increases with DNA stretch, and that this increase is more pronounced for folded conformations. 相似文献

Size-tuned copper oxide nanoparticles with sizes of 9, 12, and 15 nm were fabricated by laser ablation and on-line size selection
using a differential mobility analyzer at a gas pressure of 666 Pa. The dependence of the particle properties on the in situ
annealing temperatures and selection sizes was investigated. The crystalline phases of the nanoparticles fabricated at temperatures
below 973 K were assigned to monoclinic cupric oxide (CuO) which converted into cubic cuprous oxide (Cu2O) when the annealing temperature was above 1,173 K. This indicates that the crystalline phases can be easily controlled by
changing the annealing temperature. TEM images confirmed that well-crystallized and well-dispersed CuO and Cu2O nanoparticles with narrow size distributions were obtained using this method. This fabrication process is useful and promising
